Replication Conversations: Prof. Barbara B. Flynn

We start off a brand new year, that somehow feels like a repeat of last year with an apt topic ”Replication Conversations”.
JSCM met virtually with some leading SCM scholars to discuss which of their previous publications they would like to see replicated, we start off this series with Prof. Barbara B. Flynn.

Prof. Mark Pagell talked with Professor Flynn to discuss her previous work entitled “The impact of supply chain integration on performance: A contingency and configuration approach”

Citation: Flynn, B.B., Huo, B. and Zhao, X., 2010. The impact of supply chain integration on performance: A contingency and configuration approach. Journal of operations management, 28(1), pp.58-71.

We will continue this Replication series throughout the year.

Additionally in September 2021 JSCM hosted a Virtual Publishing workshop. This session had three overarching goals. The first was to discuss why supply chain researchers need to do more replication research as well as why there are currently no incentives to do such research. The second was to introduce registered reports as a means to change the incentive structure to encourage replication research. Finally, we discussed JSCM’s plans to begin considering replication studies for publication using the registered report process, rather than the conventional review process.
