Latin American Virtual Symposium - “How to Publish in Empirical Journals” recap

On the 4th and 5th of November JSCM hosted a virtual symposium entitled “How to Publish in Empirical Journals”.
The symposium focused on publishing in English language operations and supply chain journals. The goal was to help prospective authors from Brazil and Latin America to develop a better understanding of how to prepare manuscripts for submission to international journals and improve their success rate.
Topics included:

  • How to publish in empirical journals: Lessons of success

  • How to position a paper and develop a compelling introduction

  • Establishment of a strong theoretical foundation and using it to guide the development of a research project

  • What constitutes making a contribution

  • Tips on how to write a paper for an English language journal and practices to avoid

  • How to respond to comments and to conduct a peer review

  • Selection of a target journal

  • What are the editors of international journals looking for?
